I love using exit slips as apart of my lessons as often as possible. They're quick little snapshots of the student which lets you know what they took away from the lesson and if they're understanding what you're teaching. My exit slips are usually a half page with one question that relates to the big idea of the lesson summarizes what I wanted my students to take away. Doing exit slips often means all those little half sheets of paper can get messy or out of hand! Having an exit slip wall or drop box for students to place their exit slips in at the end of the lesson on their way out of the class for recess is not only a great organizational tool (makes your job going through all the slips easier too), but helps you grasp your students understanding based on where they place their slip so you know what you have to go over with the class or with individual students. As a bonus, it also makes a great decorative wall in your classroom like the one above! You can use folders or even old cereal boxes and decorate them however you like with whatever categories you like!
